Abstract

Innovative work behavior among healthcare workers is highly needed in the era of digitalization, but it is threatened by technostress. This literature review examines the role of technostress as an inhibitor and digital competence as a driver of healthcare workers’ innovative work behavior. The method used is a narrative literature review, with the literature search conducted through PsycINFO, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar. A thematic analysis of the selected sources identified four dimensions of technostress that hinder innovation, namely techno-overload, techno-insecurity, techno-complexity, and techno-uncertainty. Digital competence promotes innovation by enhancing technological self-efficacy, expanding information networks, strengthening independent problem-solving ability, and developing digital collaboration skills. Digital competence also protects healthcare workers from the negative effects of technostress, so that innovation can continue. Individual factors such as emotion regulation, as well as leadership factors, moderate the strength of these relationships. This study concludes that healthcare organizations need to balance technostress reduction and digital competence enhancement in an integrated manner to optimize healthcare workers’ innovative work behavior.
