Healthcare Worker Responses to Hospital Digitalization and Their Effects on Clinical Procedure Adaptation
Abstrak
Hospital digitalization through electronic medical records and telemedicine is changing the way health workers do their jobs. This literature review examines health workers’ responses to digitalization and the procedural changes that accompany it, as well as how those responses affect adaptation. The method used is an integrative literature review with a literature search through databases. A thematic analysis of the selected sources identified multidimensional response patterns covering cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social aspects. Exploratory responses that involve questions and experimentation produce the fastest adaptation, while avoidance responses are the most damaging. The factors that determine adaptation include social support, supervisor leadership, a culture of learning from mistakes, the fit of procedures with professional values, and a realistic transition time. The integration stage of digital procedures requires three to six months with continuous support. This study concludes that the success of hospital digitalization is largely determined by the management of health workers’ psychological and social responses, not merely by the sophistication of the technology or technical training.
